Water Resources of the Highlands
Overview
The Highlands water resources are valued most for the drinking water they supply to people withing th Highlands and people outside the Highlands. The North Jesery Water Supply Commission has estimated that 4.1 million residents obtain water from the Highlands. People of the Highlands utilize water from groundwater. There are six sole source aquifers that are within the Highlands region. Residents outside the Highlands depend on water from reservoirs. Some of the major reservoirs are Round Valley, Spruce Run, and Wanaque.
