LAND COVER GIS DATA
The CRSSA land cover GIS data, otherwise known as 'satellite image classifications', are raster-based data and are available for download in ESRI's Arc/Info GRID format (ver. 8.x). All data are geo-referenced to the UTM Projection, NAD83 datum (UTM zone 18, Units meters). Please read the FGDC-compliant metadata for pertinent data information.
The land cover data are downloadable as ZIP'd tar files (*.tar.ZIP); extracting the data will result in an Arc/Info workspace containing its respective land cover data year (CRSSA optioned for this data transfer method versus Arc/Info interchange format (*.e00) due to the interchange format's massive file size).
|NJ Land Cover||# of Classes||Ground-cell Resolution|
|1995||40 (level 3)||30 x 30 meters||Image||Metadata||Download|
|1984||39 (level 3)||30 x 30 meters||Image||Metadata||Download|
|1972||8 (level 1)||80 x 80 meters||Image||Metadata||Download|
* Usage of these land cover raster-GRIDs in ESRI's ArcView require the Spatial Analyst extention
** the 1984 and 1995 data are accompanied by ESRI ArcView 3.x legend files (*.avl) for level 3 mapping.
